Join us in our mission to provide hospice care, comfort and love to terminally ill and/or medically challenged senior dogs.
We are a foster based senior, hospice and special needs canine-only rescue. We also provide an educational program through our partnerships with public schools (classrooms) which teaches the importance of responsible pet ownership.
When possible, we step up (most times in the final hour when all hope is gone) to help save the lives of those that are in the most danger of being left alone to die on a cold shelter floor. Pound Pals provides hospice care, comfort, love, and a safe haven for the terminally ill and the hard-core cases.
Once rescued, all of our dogs are vetted immediately. Seniors who suffer with terminal or severe mobility medical conditions are placed in loving hospice and long-term foster care for as long as needed until they cross the rainbow bridge. We are with them, holding and loving them in the end.
Help us make a difference in the life of each dog we are able to save by making a one-time donation, or by signing up to become a monthly donor.
At Pound Pals, we do not hesitate to pull the terminally ill, or dogs the shelter will inevitably kill due to illness, age, inability to walk, see or hear, as we cannot bear having them die alone, frightened and sadly wondering why they have been discarded in the winter of their lives. We are their voice and we will continue saving lives one senior at a time.
Volunteering your time does not go unnoticed. Employers and Scholarship committees love to see volunteer references! If you have time or talent to spare - or just need to need to spruce up your resume, please consider volunteering for our Rescue group by filling out the application and we will be in touch as soon as possible.
Providing a foster home for a senior with illness or issues can be challenging, but it means the World to the dog who gets to live out his life in a home with love and care provided to him. Fosters are asked to commit to the lifetime of the pet they take in, so if this is something you can provide, please fill out a form and we will be in touch.
We have compiled a list of resources to help Pet Owners. At this time, we cannot take dogs into our rescue who are not urgent and at risk of euthanasia AND WHO ARE ALREADY IN A HIGH KILL SHELTER.
